Peggy Marie Alford is a highly accomplished executive who was most recently the Executive Vice President, Global Sales at PayPal. She oversaw the global sales and distribution of PayPal’s products and services and led the strategic Customer Success and Go-to-Market teams. Her leadership helped drive PayPal’s position as the preferred digital payment method for consumers and businesses worldwide.
In 2022, Alford focused on the growth of PayPal’s active merchant base and expanded strategic relationships with leading global merchants. She also implemented organizational improvements that increased operating leverage and sales productivity globally. Her impact-driven leadership and contributions to the company’s financial success earned her a total compensation of $9,301,318.
While her 2022 compensation package was substantial, it marked a significant decrease from her previous year’s total reward of $10,638,323. Her 2022 remuneration included a base salary of $736,731, a performance-based short-term incentive of $199,219, a long-term incentive stock award of $8,353,168, and $12,200 covering other benefits.
Throughout her career, Alford has excelled by assembling and leading diverse and experienced teams, fostering a collaborative environment that enables the development of scalable and efficient solutions. At PayPal, she held various high-level positions, including Senior Vice President for Core Markets, Senior Vice President of People Operations, Chief Operating Officer for the Asia Pacific Region and Global Cross Border Trade, and Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Americas Region. She did leave briefly when she accepted the role of Chief Financial Officer and Head of Operations at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a philanthropic organization instituted by Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan.
In January 2024, she left PayPal. Before joining PayPal in 2011, Alford worked at Rent.com, a national internet real estate listing service and former subsidiary of eBay Inc. She held positions of increasing responsibility at Rent.com, including President, General Manager, and Chief Financial Officer.
Since 2019, Alford has been a member of Meta’s board of directors, and since 2018, has served on the board of Macerich, a real estate investment trust.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Dayton and is a Certified Public Accountant.
