Beyonce’s record breaking Renaissance tour is coming to movie theaters

Beyoncé’s film production company, Parkwood Entertainment, in collaboration with AMC Theatres Distribution, has announced that Beyoncé’s wildly successful Renaissance World Tour will be released in movie theaters. Starting from December 1, 2023, the record-breaking tour will be showcased globally on the silver screen in “Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce,” highlighting her intention, hard work, and creative mastery in production.

Beyonce released the trailer, which reveals behind-the-scenes footage from production and her family. The movie, done in a documentary style, will offer insight into the album’s creation, tour conception, and production process.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, her ninth and highest-grossing tour, began on May 10, 2023, in Stockholm, Sweden, and concluded on October 1, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri, featuring 56 performances in 39 cities and drawing over 2.7 million fans worldwide. Millions more will now get to experience the theatrical Beyoncé concert in cinemas.

According to the New York Times, the Renaissance tour has significantly contributed to the American economy, generating $4.5 billion. Beyonce, already holding the record for the most Grammy wins, broke another record with the Renaissance tour, becoming the highest-grossing tour by a woman. The tour, often referred to as “Beyinflation,” had notable economic impacts, including inflation increases in Sweden and the UK, as well as boosting revenue for local businesses and city economies.

The announcement of AMC Theatres distributing the film in the U.S. has already led to a 1.5% increase in AMC Entertainment shares. This move could potentially revitalize AMC, which recently faced its worst monthly decline since going public in 2013. As the world’s largest theatrical exhibition company, AMC stands to benefit from the film being shown in theaters still recovering from the Hollywood labor strikes.

Parkwood Entertainment, known for releasing films in which Beyonce stars and produces, has a strong track record. Their portfolio includes successful productions like “Lemonade,” which won the Peabody Award for Entertainment, the Emmy-nominated “Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé,” and the Emmy-winning “Black Is King.

“Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé” will be shown in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico from December 1, with screenings on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, running for a minimum of four weeks. The movie will also be featured by other brands such as Cinemark and Regal, with tickets already on sale for $22 as of Friday. Dates for showings in other cities will be announced soon.
