Founded in 1999 by twin brothers Ronald and Rony Delice, Ron & Ron has redefined men’s fashion with its bold, made-to-measure suits. Rooted in Haitian heritage and a passion for craftsmanship, the label quickly gained acclaim, earning accolades like the Fashion Group International’s “Rising Star Award” and Gen-Art’s “Design Fashion Award.” The Delices’ designs have graced celebrities such as Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jamie Foxx, as well as elite athletes like Latrell Sprewell and Curtis Martin.

Ronald Delice recently shared insights into the journey of Ron & Ron, their inspirations, and how they’ve remained a trailblazer in an evolving industry.

For Ronald and Rony, fashion was a family legacy. Their mother, a seamstress, and their father, a tailor, instilled in them an appreciation for presentation. “Our mother always told us, ‘Even if you have no money in your pocket, the way you carry yourself matters,’” Ronald said.

The brothers’ move from Haiti to Brooklyn further ignited their passion. In Little Haiti, they admired older gentlemen dressed in their Sunday best, often in vintage suits with wide lapels. “These men cherished their clothes, and it showed,” Ronald recalled.

After studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology and gaining experience at Beau Brummel, the Delices saw a gap in the market for tailored suits that reflected individuality and bold design. Encouraged by mentor Avram Goldman, they launched Ron & Ron, blending timeless elegance with a flair for the dramatic. “We wanted to bring out the peacock in men and redefine what it meant to be elegant,” Ronald said.

Haitian heritage is at the heart of Ron & Ron’s designs. “Haiti is a hub of creativity,” Ronald explained. From the vibrant artwork on taptap buses to the rich textures of beaded flags, the Delices found endless inspiration in their roots.

Their suits feature vibrant linings, bold colors, and playful patterns, marrying tradition with modernity. Beyond fashion, the brothers celebrate their culture in other creative pursuits. Ronald produced the “Ole Ole LaKol” album, blending music with Haitian artistry, while Rony’s talent for interior design shines through in spaces adorned with Haitian artwork.

“Our work isn’t just about fashion,” Ronald said. “It’s about sharing the beauty of Haitian culture in everything we do.”

Reflecting on changes in the fashion industry, Ronald noted how opportunities for Black designers have grown since Ron & Ron’s early days. “Back then, the industry felt exclusive, and there was often competition rather than camaraderie among Black creatives,” he said.

Today, digital platforms have increased accountability and representation. Consumers demand brands that reflect diversity, a value Ron & Ron has upheld since its inception. Their campaigns feature models of all ages and backgrounds, a tribute to the people-watching that inspired the Delices in Brooklyn’s Little Haiti.

While fast fashion dominates the market, Ron & Ron remains committed to sustainability. Each suit is crafted to reflect the client’s unique style, offering a bespoke experience rooted in quality and individuality. “We don’t chase trends—we create timeless pieces,” Ronald emphasized.

Inspiration, Ronald said, comes from everywhere. Women’s fashion, for instance, influences Ron & Ron with its bold use of color and attention to detail. The brothers also draw ideas from their children, whose fresh perspectives keep their designs evolving.

“Your heritage and experiences are powerful tools,” Ronald said. “For us, the streets of Little Haiti and our upbringing remain central to our creativity.”

To young designers, especially those from underrepresented communities, Ronald offered encouragement: “Stay true to yourself and your vision. Your culture and story are assets that set you apart.”

He acknowledged the challenges of breaking into fashion but stressed the importance of resilience. “Invest in your craft and never compromise on quality. The journey may be tough, but creating something meaningful makes it all worthwhile,” he said.

With a legacy of innovation and a commitment to honoring their roots, Ron & Ron continues to redefine menswear, celebrating individuality and empowering others through fashion.
