Andre Iguodala to take over $200 million venture capital fund post retirement

Andre Iguodala has announced his retirement from an NBA career spanning 19 years with four NBA titles. He will now take over Mosaic, a $200 million venture capital fund. The former Golden State Warriors player will transition to the boardroom alongside longtime business partner Rudy Cline-Thomas.

The early-stage venture fund will focus on investments in enterprise software, fintech, healthcare and sports companies. It emphasizes diversity, financial returns, and social impact as core values. Iguodala has already secured investments for innovative companies such as Vessel and Athletes First.

In addition, Iguodala is a Venture Partner in the Catalyst Fund which invests in underrepresented founders and entrepreneurs of tech companies. He is a champion for athletes to invest in the technology industry and has been fundamental in reinventing how they approach business. His partnerships with San Francisco Silicon Valley entrepreneurs birthed the Players Technology Summit annual event.

Since 2010, the two-time Olympic Gold Medalist has actively invested in over 50 companies, achieving notable successes with investments in firms such as Zoom, Cloudflare, and Coinbase, which resulted from his engagements with prominent venture capital firms. In addition to his involvement in the business world, Iguodala holds ownership stakes in sports franchises on a global scale. His portfolio includes shares in renowned entities such as the English Premier League team Leeds United, the San Francisco branch of Tomorrow Golf League, and the upcoming NWSL team, Bay FC. His goal is to ultimately become the owner of an NBA team.

Iguodala also co-hosts a podcast named Point Forward with his former teammate Evan Turner. He is the author of the 2019 New York Times Best Selling memoir The Sixth Man. Iguodala has been hired as an ESPN studio analyst only three days after announcing his retirement.
